TALKING TRIVIA
This one-hour program carries an extensive discussion by Jerry of his musical life with host Morgan White Jr. in which Jerry offers many personal details on the story behind various songs and opinions on the state of songwriting and musical theater. It is probably the single most important source for Jerry’s perspective on his own story. Broadcast on Boston’s Touch 1060 AM March 27, 1983.

VOICES OF VISTA
This broadcast features a 20-minute interview with Jerry on a 1960s government-sponsored (!) radio program called VOICES OF VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) hosted by Willis Conover. The John Cavacas Orchestra & Chorus perform "77 Sunset Strip," "It's The Talk Of The Town," "When It's Darkness On The Delta" and "Adios Amigo." Not least interesting about this program are the wonderful interviews with VISTA volunteers about their work.

THE RALPH STORY SHOW
This five-minute program is an excerpt from a radio show hosted by long-time Los Angeles broadcast personality, Ralph Story. The program is probably from the 1950s, probably heard over the CBS station KNX (1070 AM). Though sound quality is mediocre, Jerry drops some interesting (true?) tidbits – for example, saying it took him one hour to write “Mairzy Doats.” Singer "Roberta" with pianist "Dick" (last names not given, but most likely Roberta Sherwood and Dick Hankison) perform "It's The Talk Of The Town." |
